On Saturday 25th October, the Why Not? Adventure Film Festival will return to its birth town in An Taibhdhearc Theatre for the third consecutive year, showcasing a night of daredevil adventure short films from Ireland and across the globe.

The festival has only one aim: ‘to inspire people with tales of adventure’.

The night will immerse spectators in tales of adventure from everyday heroes, living their lives for mind-blowing extreme sports or incredible expeditions in remote places of the planet.

Be ready to set sail to the Arctic, stand atop rugged mountainous peaks and descend with adventurers deep in the heart of vast canyons. The selection of films will keep you on the edge of your seat and take you further than our little island. This year the festival will welcome an All-Ireland windsurf champion, a big wave surfer, award winning and emerging local filmmakers, independent round-the-world adventurers leading expeditions as far as world major Ice Caps and a multidisciplinary crew from Killary will discuss their recent expedition to Greenland.

Special guest Fergal Smith, filmmaker and big wave surfer will be travelling to Galway specially for the night, to discuss his popular ‘Growing series’ documentary on the 25th October at An Taidhdhearc.

For festival director, Charlotte Haffner, Galway was a natural choice as it is a “Hot Spot” which is home to many adventurers and film-makers. Many of whom will be on hand to introduce their stories and participate in Q&A sessions in order to create a deeper connection between the films and the audience.

The films will then be screened in Castlebar for one extra night on October 30th at the Linenhall Arts Centre.
