New Camera – Canon EOS Rebel 1000D D-SLR

I’ve been taking my photos for the blog with a run of the mill digital camera and the quality wasn’t great so I thought it was time I upgraded! I splashed out slightly and got a great package on ebay.

I had intended on spending about €300 but after chatting to Paudie Scanlon and Mark Capilitan I went a bit higher and got a pretty good SLR. The Canon 1000D includes the following specs:

  • 10.5 million total pixels
  • Continuous: 3.0 fps JPEG to card capacity
  • 2.5″ TFT LCD
  • Auto pop-up E-TTL II auto flash
  • Lithium-Ion LP-E5 rechargeable battery

I’m still learning all about it and there is so much to it that it will take a while.
In the package with the camera I also got: Canon 18-55mm IS Lens, Wide Angle Lens, 2X Telephoto Lens, UV Digital Filter, Digital Flash, Professional Camera Bag, 8GB SD HC, and a 57 Inch Tripod.

I brought it out last Saturday to Tullan, the waves were messy so I didnt get any great shots of the surf but there were a couple of guys doing beach art and I got a few shots of this! Can’t wait to get some sweet surf shots!

Hopefully I’ll get a bigger lens in the coming months but this one should make a serious difference to what I’m used to!
