Surf Spots: Rossnowlagh Beach, Ballyshannon

Rossnowlagh Beach is located close to Ballyshannon further north of Tullan Strand.
The waves here are alot more mellow. When Tullan is too big this beach is usually a good option. Rossnowlagh is a pretty a nice beach break and is a good option for beginner surfers, but it does cater for all levels.

The beach is host to the Rossnowlagh Intercounties Surfing Contest, where teams from all over Ireland converge for one wknd to battle it out for the Vinny Britton Cup.

Keep an eye on the tide if you park your car up on the beach… many people have been caught before! Check out some tidal victims from last September here.

Rossnowalgh can get busy in the summer but is rarely over-crowded at Winter time. There is a life guard tower here but I think its just manned during the summer months. This beach is offshore in east and south east winds.
